Is Direct Mail Dying?
With the Internet exploding in unbelievable proportions, many people are starting to think that direct mail is slowly dying away - and Internet sales letters, autoresponders, article-writting, etc. is the way to go for copywriters.
But are they basing that on fact, or opinion?
Let me be honest…
Up until this morning, I believed that although direct mail wasn’t exactly “dying” - I thought it was slowing down big time.
After all, in most cases the Internet gets you results faster, is easier and cheaper to test, and has bigger profit margins than direct mail.
But according to an article I read this morning - “Non-catalog direct mail advertising is projected to grow by more than 44% this year compared to 2007, according to findings in a new research report entitled Direct Mail Best Practices, Benchmarks and Strategies.”
Take a look at that again….44%!!
Here’s a link to the article - http://directmag.com/news/direct-mail081208/
Non-catalog direct mail (postcards, flyers, sales letters, etc.) are STILL a great way for copywriters to gain incredible prospects.
And, they can make you more money over the long-term than the Internet can (in most cases).
But I still don’t think you should only go after tradtional direct-mail companies. That should only be part of your marketing plan.
Why not mix it up a little with a variety of direct-mail and online companies?
You can explain to the direct-mail companies why being online is so important, and you can explain to the Internet companies why sending direct-mail is so important!
Such an easy way to increase the size of your business by utilizing current clients…

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses
If there was one problem I could pick out of any “average” person that would make them be more successful, I would take out the fact that they don’t take enough action.
The problem is that our society today expects us to have excuses for everything.
- “I didn’t send out those letters because I want to get my letter ‘just perfect’”.
- “I never called them back because I wasn’t exactly sure what to say”.
- “I didn’t start saving 10% of my income because I had too many bills”.
All of these are simply excuses you give yourself to try and make your life easier.
But guess what the #1 reason is for people being unsuccessful?
Lack of action!
Just think if you actually DID everything you wanted to do. Whether that’s study more, send out more letters, call more prospects back, or whatever it is.
This is the problem with the movie “The Secret”. Although the law of attraction is a very powerful thing, it won’t get activated without action. That’s the key that opens the door.
So, right now, make a list of 10 things you make excuses for. If you make excuses for eating bad, write them down. If you make excuses for why your business isn’t thriving, write that down.
Whatever your goals are, try to think of excuses you’re creating that makes you not do the actions necessary to complete your goals in their entirety.
You can even make a list by commenting on this post. That way you’ll be held accountable and you’ll be much more likely to do them!
Hopefully this post inspired you a bit and made you take action today.
Face your fears, do what you don’t want to do, and do it with a smile on your face.

How Your Very Own Bathroom Can Make You Rich
We live in the world of (supposedly) having no free time, rushing around all the time trying to meet deadlines and catch up on work, and not really putting the most important things first.
Because of this, reading and getting motivated is often neglected as something we should only do “if we get some free time”.
But think about this…when do you usually get the most done?
When do you go on working streaks where you accomplish more in a few hours than you usually do in a few days?
It’s those times when you’re ultra-motivated to take action and get things done.
But without reading, that’s very hard to do. I know that’s the case for me. A good motivational book will indirectly do more for your business than almost anything I can think of - because it gets you to take action!
A Simple Trick To Get Motivated Everyday
There’s one thing I’ve been doing for awhile that has kept me motivated pretty much everyday to get work done.
And that is…
Keeping a motivational book right next to my toilet!
That may sound a bit gross, but it’s the truth. If you don’t have much time to read throughout the day to keep yourself motivated, simply keep a motivational book right next to your toilet.
And when you gotta go, you gotta read. I usually try to read 5 pages or so.
Just think about it. 5 pages per day and we’ll see 300 days per year, since there are days when you wouldn’t go at your house.
That’s 1,500 pages per year!
That means you could read about 5 books, just by doing this simple little thing.
So What’s Motivational To You?
Just because I say “motivational” doesn’t mean it necessarily needs to be a motivational book. That word can mean whatever makes you work.
For me personally, a motivational book is reading about other people and how they overcame obstacles to create success for themselves or reading how I can better myself.
For you, it might simply be studying up on copywriting, marketing, advertising, direct response, etc.
So that’s your homework assignment for today. Grab a book that you think would inspire you to get motivated and do work.
Then simply put it next to your toilet and whenever you gotta go, take an extra minute or 2 to read up to 5 pages.
You’ll be amazed at how much extra work you accomplish that day because of your extra motivation!
Try this very strange technique out and leave a comment letting me know how it works for you.

Jeremy
